How To Install WordPress On GoDaddy?

Select And Buy Your Domain
The first thing you need to do is select your domain name. This is your web address/ URL on which your website will appear on and is absolutely the first impression to your customers.

Once you have chosen an appropriate domain name. The next thing you need to do is go to Godaddy. Type your selected domain name in the search bar to check either your desired domain name is available or not.
If the domain name is available, proceed with buying it. You’ll find various steps for choosing different plans and services. Check the service if you need it or click on No Thanks!.
Now, select the term length i.e. time period for which you want to register your domain name and click on Proceed to checkout to select your payment method and then to enter your payment details.
Select And Buy Your Web Hosting
The web hosting service you will choose will make your website accessible to the internet. It will store all of the files and backup of your website to make it easy to recover in case of some mishap.
Log in to your Godaddy account. On the start page, select Hosting from the top bar.
A drop-down menu will be opened. Click on whichever kind of web hosting you’ll be needing for your site (For example, Linux Hosting under Website Hosting).
Different hosting plans will be shown now. Select any one that meets your requirements.
Scroll down to check further services you’ll be needing or you can simply check No Thanks.
At the end of the page, you’ll find Continue with these options, click on it.
Now, after once going through your list of purchases in the cart and mentioning the term, click on Proceed to checkout.
To finalize your purchase, select your payment method and enter your payment details.
Upload To The Server
Once you have registered your domain name with GoDaddy and purchased the web hosting, you’ll receive an email with login details to the control panel.
Go to the cPanel after logging into your GoDaddy account.
On the top left corner click on My Account and scroll down to select Web Hosting.
Search your domain in the list and launch it.
Go back to the main page, scroll down to the Tools and click on File Manager. The page opened will lead you to the Webroot Directory Folder.
Access your site by typing in its URL (www.myblog.com) and the wordpress.zip file will be uploaded to the directory at once.
Now, click on Browse and find the zip file on your personal computer and open it to start uploading the file.
Once the uploading process is done, check the wordpress.zip file in the directory and go to More.
Click on Extract from the drop-down menu to start unzipping the file.
A new tab will appear now. Select the directory that you want your file to be extracted in.
If you want you can delete the wordpress.zip file, as you no longer need it.
Create Your GoDaddy WordPress Database
To create your WordPress database,
Go to Hosting section from your GoDaddy dashboard or the main page.
Scroll down the list till you reach Database → MySQL.
A new tab will appear. Click on Add on the top left corner and a window with Add a MySQL Database will be displayed. Fill out the fields for Friendly name, Database name and username, and Password. Now, click ok.
After a few minutes, your database will be set up.
Now, go to Actions → Details and note the database connection details for the later use.
Set Up And Install WordPress
As you have your domain name already registered in the hosted domains and your WordPress database also has been created, now all that remains is setting up your WordPress website. To do this,
First of all, you need to install WordPress. For this, go to your GoDaddy’s dashboard.
In My Products, click set up in front of the Basic Managed WordPress Websites under the Managed WordPress section.
Now, a new window will be opened that will be asking you the type of your site with two options. Click on I’m building a brand new website if you’re exactly that or select I’m migrating an existing site if you happen to be migrating it (you can also click on the question marks beside the options to know more about it).
Click on Get Started.
Type in your domain name under the Website Domain in the Pick a Domain window and click Next.
Next step is to Choose a data center to specify your target audience.

Enter your username and password.
Click on the Create a configuration file on the first page and click ok.

How to Install WordPress in a Root Directory on GoDaddy
If you want to install WordPress CMS in the domain root directory rather than GoDaddy’s own subdirectory -which is done by default. Installing WordPress in a root directory will make your website accessible with the root domain name. To do this, you can follow these steps,
Log in to your GoDaddy account. Under the Hosting section, click launch on your hosting package.
Next, go to Applications → WordPress and click Install Now.
Select the domain name you want to use and click on Next.
Fill in all the fields of database username and password, and others.
Now, remove the default text /wordpress in the text box. This will inform GoDaddy that you don’t want to install WordPress on its subdirectory but on the domain root.
In the end, choose your Site Title, Username, Password, and Your email. Click finish for the successful installation of WordPress on GoDaddy.
